Greetings! It's late, but happy new year! I hope your 2026 is off to a great start. We're only a few weeks in, and already I'm experiencing great highs and lows. Live music events, catching up with old pals, saying goodbye to loved ones, finding my creative voice again, celebrating birthdays... Talk about starting off with a BANG!
February Performance
My first performance of the year will be a special one. I was encouraged by Cline House Gallery to participate in their Words of Art event, where writers and artists share readings inspired by pieces being exhibited in the gallery. The event takes place Sunday February 22nd at 1:30pm. Working with a deadline, using visual art to inspire my songwriting, it's been a welcome challenge. I'm about halfway through writing this song, and I've been loving this new approach and process. I'm looking forward to sharing it with the community.

What I’m listening to
As I write this newsletter, I'm listening to Sister Ray's Believer album. I was able to see them live in Ottawa at the NAC, and I was immediately hooked. There are some great songs on this record. I would suggest seeking this one out.
Earlier this month I picked up a few singles on Bandcamp, and I haven't been able to get Robinson Kirby's Hey Christine out of my head. Such a catchy indie-pop tune. Check this one out!
This week has been a particularly bright one in eastern Ontario. As someone who was born on the coldest day of the year, I don't mind winter. Dare I say I might even enjoy it. Every winter I'm reminded that many suffer a seasonal depression. Should this be you, I hope you're enjoying the sunshine. Find that ray of light this week.
